It all began when Cal Bombay was asked to do a “Scriptural Audit” on the trans-Canada Christian program, 100 Huntley Street. This was to be a check-up on the contents of statements made by guests on 100 Huntley Street. Comments were made to enforce or, at times, correct the biblical accuracy of any aberrations from what the bible clearly states.

After about a year or so of this “Audit” it became clear to Cal that 99% of what was said on 100 Huntley Street was acceptable. Cal then suggested that a short period be given for a “Commentary” written by Cal on either current affairs, or some biblical truth Cal felt needed some emphasis.

In the process of writing and presenting these commentaries, illustrations (or parables) were used to introduce the subject. He often used his observation of his own flocks of chickens as starting points, then making a biblical application. Eventually “ Cal’s Commentaries” numbered into the thousands. Many of the commentaries were re-written and published in eight different books.
