WHAT IS CAL BOMBAY MINISTRIES?
We were born out of death in some ways. At the end of Cal Bombay’s 25 year association with 100 Huntley Street, Cal Bombay could not, and would not look at the rest of his life as that near-death experience called retirement.
South Sudan had almost died. Since 1956, over 5,000,000 people have perished through war, manipulated famine and sheer overt genocide. 2,400,000 of those died in the conflict from 1989. Since January 2005 there has been a fragile peace between the Islamist north and the predominantly Christian south of Sudan. Darfur has lost over 300,000 lives since then. A referendum for the south to secede from northern rule will be held in early 2011.
Cal’s work in Sudan began under the auspices of Crossroads Christian Communications in 1996 while Cal Bombay was Vice President of Missions. Retirement has never been an option with Cal, and with Crossroads acquiescence, Cal inherited the already begun work in Sudan. He now works almost exclusively for the good of the Sudanese people in the south. Farms, health and community development are the emphasis.
We do more than talk about it. We do it!
